Get Info on Mac

Select a file or folder in Finder and press ⌘I to open the Get Info window — it shows size, kind, where it lives, created/modified dates, Open-with app, sharing permissions, and tags. Hold Option for ⌥⌘I to open the single Inspector panel that updates as you click different files. Use ⌃⌘I (Control) to get one combined Summary Info window for a multi-file selection.

File Properties on Windows

Select the file in File Explorer and press Alt+Enter (or Alt+double-click) to open the Properties dialog. It shows size, type, location, attributes (read-only / hidden), and tabs for Security, Details (metadata), and Previous Versions. For a drive, Properties also shows free space and the disk-cleanup button.

Tip

On both systems the info/properties window stays open while you work, so it’s a quick way to watch a folder’s size change as files copy in.
