Send a message to Trash from the keyboard: with the conversation open or selected, press # (that's Shift+3). Same key on Mac and Windows.

Move to Trash with the keyboard
Press # (hold Shift and press 3) to delete the open or selected conversation. It goes to Trash and is removed after 30 days. The key is the same on the Mac and on Windows.
Undo a mistaken delete
Right after deleting, press z to undo, or use the Undo toast at the bottom of the screen.
Enable shortcuts first
Settings → See all settings → General → Keyboard shortcuts on → Save Changes.
