Go to Beginning of Line (Home / ⌘←)
Move the cursor to the start of the line: Home on Windows, ⌘← (Command+Left) on Mac.
| Action | Mac | Windows | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginning of line | ⌘← | Home | |
| End of line | ⌘→ | End | |
| Beginning of document | ⌘↑ | Ctrl+Home | |
| Select to start of line | ⇧⌘← | Shift+Home |
Jump to the line start
Press Home on Windows or ⌘← on the Mac to move the cursor to the very beginning of the current line — no mouse needed. Hold Shift as well (Shift+Home / ⇧⌘←) to select everything from the cursor back to the line start.
Line vs document
To jump to the top of the whole document, use Ctrl+Home (Windows) or ⌘↑ (Mac). On a Mac laptop without a Home key, ⌘← is the reliable way to reach the line start; fn+← acts as Home in some apps.
