Go to Bottom Shortcut (Ctrl+End / ⌘↓)
Jump to the very bottom: ⌘↓ on Mac, Ctrl+End on Windows. Here it is with select-to-bottom and top.
| Action | Mac | Windows | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Go to bottom of document | ⌘↓ | Ctrl+End | |
| Go to top of document | ⌘↑ | Ctrl+Home | |
| Select everything to the bottom | ⌘⇧↓ | Ctrl+Shift+End | |
| Last used cell (Excel / Sheets) | ⌘↓ | Ctrl+End | |
| Bottom of a web page | Fn+→ or ⌘↓ | End or Ctrl+End | |
| End of current line | ⌘→ | End |
Jump to the end
Press ⌘↓ on the Mac or Ctrl+End on Windows to drop the cursor at the very end of a document, text box, or long page in one keystroke. On most Mac keyboards there is no dedicated End key, so ⌘↓ (or Fn+→) is the reliable equivalent.
Select to the end
Hold Shift to select everything from the cursor to the bottom: ⌘⇧↓ on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+End on Windows — handy for grabbing the tail of a file before copy or delete.
App-by-app behavior
- Microsoft Word / Google Docs: Ctrl+End (Win) / ⌘↓ (Mac) moves to the end of the whole document.
- Excel / Google Sheets: Ctrl+End jumps to the last used cell (the bottom-right corner of your data), not the bottom of the sheet. ⌘↓ on Mac does the same inside a data block.
- Web browsers: the End key or ⌘↓ scrolls to the bottom of the page; Home / ⌘↑ returns to the top.
- Terminal / code editors: Ctrl+End goes to the end of the file; in VS Code it also works mid-document.
Cursor vs scroll
These shortcuts move the cursor and scroll the view with it. If you only want to scroll without moving the cursor, use the mouse wheel or trackpad — the cursor stays where it was.
